Astrology and Yoga
I don’t write blogs as often as I used to. My days are filled with different activities now. But I have had so many people reaching out to me to “have their charts read”, I thought, maybe it’s time to write about astrology and how I perceive it to work in this world as a yogini.
Astrologists saw 2020 coming. That’s not to say we knew EXACTLY what was coming … but we knew there was a shift that was about to take place. So, it didn’t sideline us per se; although it was pretty massive, overwhelming, and honestly, miraculous.
Any time life takes an incredible turn like we witnessed globally in 2020, as humans we wonder why? We can look to economics, science, and even patterns in history. And, given all of those amazing paths, astrology is one that never lies. Conversely, we never want to allow it to box us in. So, with astrology, I have learned to look at the lines, feel into the energy, and remember … Divine Will.
“It’s written in the stars” is a true statement. And, “the Moon makes the waves” is just as true. But how does that translate into your chart … very specifically to be honest.
What is your chart?
It’s a blueprint/snapshot of the moment you were born. The cosmic alignment of planets on the moment you incarnated. So, when I look at your chart, I can see patterns, essences, opportunities, and potential pitfalls. But you, and only you, have Divine Will.
When I revisit the astrology of 2020, it’s the same story. “Potential pitfalls” is a good way to say it. Upheaval is another way. Shift storm is my favorite. And no one has been able to ignore it. But how, how did the astrology of last year affect you? What did it take away from your reality? And what doors of opportunity did it open for you? What did it illuminate whether you liked it or not? And what did it bury within you? What gifts did 2020 offer you?
Have you been able to see the gifts yet?
Loss was inevitable in 2020. Physical, mental, emotional loss. Everyone, triggered at their root chakra … fear, security, and stability. Everyone in survival mode of some kind, reacting to the uncertainty of external influence. We all lost something in 2020, or someone. And then grief piles on top of that survival instinct, making it almost impossible to recover from if you’re isolated and alone with your thoughts. And this happened, and is still happening, globally. It’s an external event you/we have no control over.
What yoga has taught me is that we had no control to begin with.
And that’s when I remember. I remember that I am the Co-creator of my life. I have a birth chart that outlines what my life could be, I have a connection to my breath, and I have a tether to the Divine, in every second. When I lose that breath, or my Divine connection, I wander off my path. I go into reaction and fear. I act from that reptilian brain and make decisions that maybe aren’t quite the best.
Once the breath is found, I reground, and then look up. To the stars, the planets, the shifting of this Universe and that’s when I laugh. Not because it’s funny – because usually, when I react, it’s not funny at all. But instead, because I remember that the planets are orbiting in ways, we have zero control over. But … if we have a blueprint, an outline of our essence, our habitual patterns, a “map” of when certain planets like Saturn, will return, maybe we can use our breath a bit more consistently, connect a bit deeper, and avoid reacting so quickly. At the very least, we can recover quicker perhaps.
Is reading your chart, the same thing as having someone tell you what decision to make?
Nope. Not even close. I’m not God, nor am I you. But you are God, you are the co-creator of your life, and only you know how to interpret what certain attributes you are willing to keep utilizing and which ones are no longer serving you.
Knowing where your chart matches up with the current astrological orchestra is supportive because it helps you see where/when it may be helpful to act assertively, and when it’s great to just shut up and be quiet. And I mean that in a loving, supportive way.
We’ve all been through a lot. Yoga, breath, meditation, essential oils, bodywork and astrology, have been my drug of choice. Okay, and Bridgerton and the Bachelor binge watching has been helpful too. Sunsets, nature walks, nourishing food…. All the things.
Learn how to appease your body, mind, heart and soul. It’s not one thing; you are multi-dimensional, so it’s all the things. And, remember you are a small, spec of dust, standing on a planet that is orbiting through the Universe. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a map so you could chart your past, see where you are now, and hold a few more tools toward awareness? And if you'd like your chart read, reach out.
