MANTRA

Dana-6249.jpg

I was trying to come up with a word to encapsulate a weekly theme and honestly, I was a bit concerned about the word that kept coming to me.  It was the word mantra.

I hold the word mantra in such high esteem.  I mean for me personally, when I recite mantra, it’s a devotional calling to the Divine. Period.

And Wiki defines it as:

A sound, word, or phrase that is repeated by someone who is praying or meditating
A word or phrase that is repeated often or that expresses someone's basic beliefs

Anyone who knows me knows that I am big on words.  I thrive on words.  And I am a firm believer that every word that comes out of your mouth has the potential to be creation.  In fact, it IS creation --- sometimes in the making, but creation nonetheless.

So I like to ask …. how careless are we with our words really?  And not only that, but how insensitive are we to what we write and post?

And how conscious are we really when it comes to taking a breath in between our thoughts and reactions so we can truly make the two align with our hearts’ desire?

I mean really.

And then there’s also this whole:  “what we fear most is what our heart wants the most.”  That’s deep and true:

Our words are created from our thoughts, that are sometimes protecting our heart, so really, if you think about it, we could actually be speaking to ourselves in a way that is sabotaging what our heart desires just because on the outside we’re afraid of really getting it.

Whoa.  So True.

And than hang on; think about what we say to other people: on-line, in text, in email, in conversation, and how conscious are we really? How often, and for how long?

And then let’s just go a big deeper if we can please:  if you are not totally conscious when you are talking to someone else, how conscious do you think you are when you are talking to yourself?  In the quiet of your own mind and prayers of your own heart – what are you saying to yourself for real?

Let me try and wrap this all up so you know how the word mantra actually works into all of this babbling …

You can mantra all day every day, but if you heart does not believe it to be true …
it isn’t’ happening.

Why?

Because the storyline that your mind has been telling you may just very well be speaking louder and at a faster pace then your heart can keep up with.  And that mantra, the one that actually keeps you from creating that which you desire, is actually what you are witnessing because of this mis-communication that is going on between heart and head.

Make sense?

So after all that I ask you a few simple questions….

·      What mantras have you created for yourself in this real world of ours?

·      What mantras have you created in judgment of other people?

·      What about how you perpetuate that which you do not really desire, but you have just programmed yourself to believe it?

·      What mantras would you like to believe in?

·      What mantras can you modify, revise and amend from a place of truth, freedom, and love?

Let me also add that everyone has to start somewhere … please do not expect perfect when amending your mantras …

I remember chanting Om Gum Ganapatayei Namaha a bazillion times and honestly, having to watch Janet’s mouth for weeks before I could feel it in my own bones.

Then I moved on to the Gayatri Mantra and felt like I had marbles in my mouth for a couple of weeks.

Then one day … bam ..

Om Bhur Bhuvah Svah
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi
Dhiyo Yonah Prachodayat

rolled off my tongue.

Point is, English, Sanskrit .. no matter the language, you can change your mantra and it takes practice and devotion.  Devotion to the Divine; to the divine essence of who you are, who you are becoming, and true connection with all that is.

You just have to witness it, own it and believe it. You are the only person can rewrite and adjust the mantras you have given yourself in this lifetime.

No one else can – only you.  You must look inside yourself, listen intently and make the changes necessary to live your life the way you envision.

Go ahead and use outside sources:  Gurus, teachers, Deities … I get it.  But please remember to come back to source and listen to your own voice; pay attention.  Pay very close attention.

There is no more important time than right NOW to use your words wisely

…. Listen to the mantra … make it work for you, for people close to you, and to the world you are living in right now.

It’s more important to now than ever to witness your mantras … please.
