Retreat counts as 16 CE hours for Yoga Alliance.

The word solstice comes from the Latin word sol (“sun”) and sistere (“to stand still”), because at the solstices, the Sun appears to “stand still”; that is, the seasonal movement of the Sun’s daily path (as seen from Earth) stops at a northern or southern limit before reversing direction.

It creates a pause in the midst of the fire and then a swift turn of the heart inward. Dark/light … movement/stillness … Black/white …. Shiva/Shakti. Always searching fro the balance inside in the hopes to experience balance on the outside.

We gather to honor the cycles of nature, and create ritual in observance of this moment in time. We pause to observe the longest day of the year, and remember that the seasons of our life are cyclical, just like nature. Stand with us at the threshold and tipping point of the seasons both as a macrocosm and microcosm within ourselves.

If you haven’t been to 1440 before, you must make the time and space to visit this special place. Every day you’ll partake in two yoga classes a day with Dana Damara and hands on assist from her attuned assistant(s). Dive into the beauty of the trees and endless walking paths that surround the property. Swim in silence amidst the trees in the infinity pool and enjoy nourishing meals that offer vegan and gluten free options.

Alongside all the movement and connection, there will be time for restoring and going inward. We’ll usher in the Summer Solstice along with the New Moon Cancer as the clock strikes midnight. Join us on this most auspicious day as we honor the natural ease and grace of transition, and flow of this precious life.
